Press Release
2nd  July 2013

Stylecraft has launched the first of its new yarns for Autumn Winter 13, called Lullaby – a baby yarn that is every bit as soft and cosy as the name suggests.

The yarn is a DK, with exceptional wash and wear properties, and is available in a colour palette that features classic baby colours as well as brighter accents.  Stylecraft has created distinctive designs to support the yarn which take their inspiration from vintage aran stitch patterns.  The idea of wrapping babies up in cosy cables, all warm and protected in coats with hoods, snug little wrap collars and cosy cocoons will be too much to resist. The jolly shades shouted out for an element of playfulness which inspired the cute little ears and larger than life pompoms, as you can see from these delightful images,.

Lullaby will be available in yarn and craft shops around the UK from mid-July.  It is a DK (45% acrylic/55% Nylon) with 135m on a 50g ball. Retail price will be £2.79, available nationwide. There are 13 pattern leaflets in total aimed at babies from premature to 3 years (5 years in the case of some patterns) – perfect for your precious tot.

French yarn producer, Bergère de France has announced an exciting partnership with UK charity Sparks, who fund research into life-saving medical research for babies, children and mums-to-be. The ‘Little Purls’ campaign will run for 6 months and support Sparks by engaging with knitters in a variety of ways.

To kick off the campaign, Bergère de France is launching a delightful Little Purls e-booklet featuring specially created patterns from Katya Frankel, Kyoko Nakayoshi, Kirstie MacLeod and Amanda Jones which you can see above, and four Bergere de France baby patterns.

Available here, the patterns exclusively use Bergère de France’s yarn Caline. Sofia Rivière, the brand’s Marketing Director said: “Our yarns are very popular for children’s wear and Caline has such a fantastic colour palette. In France we have a long standing relationship with a premature baby charity and we wanted to forge the same links in the UK. Sparks is a tremendous charity and we are proud to work with them.” Bergère de France is suggesting knitters make a donation when they download the e-booklet to help fund this amazing charity.

Helen Farquharson, Sparks’ Regional Fundraiser in the South East said: “We are thrilled that Bergère de France is supporting Sparks. Every parent wants their baby to arrive in the world healthy, yet sadly it doesn’t always happen that way. The money and awareness raised from the ‘Little Purls’ campaign will mean we can fund more life-saving research to help more babies be born healthy and stay healthy and help prevent the illness no parent expects.”

Sofia Rivière added: “We know how generous knitters are so we hope they will find it in their hearts to support this amazing charity and the vital research they fund.”

Press ReleaseCASH-CA LOGO black

Linen Silk Pointelle Simple Dress in ChamomileLinen Silk Hoody and Cotton Wool Blend Lounge Pants with Linen Silk Texture SnoodPointelle Simple Linen Silk Dress in Denim

Luxury knitwear brand CASH CA is delighted to present its collection of ultra-stylish yet comfortable knitwear for the Spring Summer 13 season. CASH CA is all about colour; vibrant hues and contrasts are key elements in every collection. The main palette is a balance of saturated darks, a large range of neutrals and tinted linen colours, infused with unusual, intense brights offered in the brand’s unique blends.

Subliminal inspiration for the SS13 collection comes from a recent Miro exhibition at the Yorkshire Sculpture Park. The sculptures and drawings underpin features for the SS13 collection; strong primary colouring, subtle detailing and a playful, almost childlike aspect with structured pieces reflecting some of the more abstract Miro working drawings.  Creative Director, Craig Alexander explains: “The way the obscure sculptures sat in the natural landscape provided the perfect backdrop for our photo shoot.  The garment shapes become almost sculptural within the beautiful natural background.”

CASH CA’s SS13 collection lives in 4 distinct lifestyle groups:

Day Town  Aimed at women who need to be comfortable but not casually dressed during the day, transitional outfits that move effortlessly from day through to evening. The collection features a cool high summer ice blue, a vivid summer mix of cool acid green, flattering orange and milky ecru.

weekend Features softer, fuller shapes for an easy weekend; relaxing at home or an informal lunch. Natural shades are the base here, with around 10 neutral colours covering soft greys, natural browns and tinted linen shades all of which can work together in a number of ways.

Lounge For cooler summer evenings or early Sunday mornings, CASH CA have introduced a completely new fabric – a fine cotton with a just a hint  of wool to give a luxuriously soft handle that suggests simple cotton jersey fabric but with a more modern and much more expensive look.

Evening CASH CA has created a dramatic evening  story in black, dark navy, syrup brown, carbon grey and milk. Soft shaped knitwear in clean elegant silhouettes with fine detailing such as hand stitched pointelle, self coloured beading and sequins.

30 go to Edinburgh

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

If any of you saw the wonderful Union Jack flag on the Rowan stand at Ally Pally, knitted entirely in British Wool, you may have noticed that it didn’t seem to be quite finished.  It’s not that the lovely people at Rowan simply ran out of time, it is because this flag will form the centre piece of an event that takes place this week as part of the Campaign forWool and Love Wool UK - Clickety Click on the Clickety Clack

Around 30 Knitters including lucky old me will be travelling all the way to Edinburgh tomorrow, feverishly knitting squares on the way up and sewing them into the flag on the way down.  I believe we have taken over a whole carriage and I am really looking forward to spending time with the folks from Rowan, bloggers like Lauren O’Farrell from Stitch London and Whodunnknit, students from the RCA and our hosts, the Campaign for Wool.

The finished flag will be unfurled at Kings Cross on 18th October at about 5pm and I will be blogging and posting pictures on twitter as we go  @julietbernard.

Luxury women’s wear brand CASH CA has unveiled its collection for Autumn Winter 2012 inspired by the natural elements – fire, earth, water and air.

The collection features garments in finest cashmere, superfine merino wool and fine pima cotton with hot shades such as furnace and flame, contrasting with earthy colours such as bark and water colours such as aqua.

As well as classic solid colours, the design team at CASH CA have been inspired by microscopic plant life to create repeating patterns of superfine stripes in contrasting colour and micro textured knitted fabrics in big voluminous shapes reminiscent of windblown plant life and wild seascapes.

An idyllic barn-house in Yorkshire provided the perfect setting for the AW12 photo shoot. The roots of tradition and heritage, which the collection is inspired by, were reflected in the choice of location. The fire-inspired colours such as furnace and flame provided a warm tone to the open surroundings, and the sense of rural charm was evoked by interesting, rich textures in the red brick and fire logs. The final shots had a traditional feel with a modern edge and completely captured the ultra stylish and effortless nature of the CASH CA collection.

Look out for the new AW12 collection and discover which element will inspire you to pick up a gorgeous new garment; fire, earth, water or air.
