Excitement builds with second phase launches

Stylecraft has launched the second phase of its Spring Summer season at Craft Hobby and Stitch at the NEC this February. A feast of delicious new colours in existing ranges and plenty of desirable patterns in both knit and crochet await crafters.

The popularity of crochet has never been higher.  Stylecraft have created a wonderful range of homeware patterns in one of their most popular spring summer yarns, Classique Cotton including a tablet cover and some fun cushions.  The structure and quality of the yarn together with the colour range make it a perfect partner for crochet projects. There are 4 delicious new shades to add to the range including Heather, Teal, Plum and Wysteria.

Wondersoft is adding two contemporary classic colours to their extensive range this season, Poppy and Midnight which are used to great effect in a range of baby patterns with a very continental matelot look. Fashionable berets, classic garments and cute sailor colours complete the effect.

Senses Lace yarn was hugely successful last season and with extra pattern support that’s sure to continue. There are 4 shawl patterns for knitters of all abilities; two delicious wraps and two delicate mini shawls perfect for accessorising this summer.

Summer Breeze is another of Stylecraft’s favourite summer yarns.  Four new colours have been launched including Teal, Nickel, Midnight and Marmalade. An elegant range of garments for a relaxed outdoor easy summer will be available to support this yarn.

Today marks the official launch of The Handmade Fair, proudly sponsored by Hobbycraft, which will take place in the beautiful historic park of Hampton Court Palace from 19th to 21st September 2014, organised by Brand Events.

Having spearheaded Britain’s craft revolution for the last 5 years, Kirstie Allsopp has gathered together the best experts in the land to create a learning experience for those passionate about creating bespoke craft products, making The Handmade Fair the first and only event to put making AND learning at the heart of the show. This fantastic day out will give every visitor the opportunity to make something in one of our craft workshops, listen to the grand masters of handmade products in the Super Theatre, enjoy great food in the palace gardens, and buy beautiful products from handpicked sellers.

“My hope is for The Handmade Fair to be a gathering of all the wonderful people I have had the huge privilege of working with over the years and many more.  I want it to be a place where everyone can come to learn, be inspired and meet kindred spirits.” Kirstie Allsopp

The Handmade Fair will provide 6 learning workshops, known as ‘Craft Banquets’, where attendees can learn and make with the best experts in the industry.  Each tent will seat 100 attendees for 6 sessions per day, covering knitting and textiles, jewellery making, paper craft, food, upcycling and seasonal crafts.

A super demo theatre will stage conversations with the best experts in craft passing on their skills, inspirations and experience to the audience.   The theatre will seat 600 attendees for 6 sessions per day across the three day event.

There is nothing better than learning and sharing your crafts with fellow enthusiasts – 250 of them!  In our Grand Make tents you will be inspired and taught how easy it is to make something in a few minutes, creating beautiful products to use in your home, at a party or as a gift.

Catriona Marshall, Chief Executive of Hobbycraft, comments on the sponsorship: “We’re really excited to be involved in this fantastic celebration of craft. At Hobbycraft our mission is to get the country making and our colleagues, throughout our 79 stores, have a passion to get crafting, so this is the perfect event to be involved with. Second phase of autumn launch features lace and super chunky yarns

No winter wardrobe should be without two new yarns from Stylecraft.  Senses and Allsorts cover both ends of the spectrum of yarns; a soft, rich lace weight and a fun, super chunky.

Senses is a subtle fine lace weight yarn, made from a blend of the softest  mohair and  premium acrylic. This feminine, luxurious yarn is available in  chalky  soft, as well as earthy ombre and tonal colour combinations; from rosehip reds to deep plums and golden ochre to blackest elder. Stylecraft’s first lace weight yarn is ideal for light but cosy garments that can be worn day and night, or for knitting your favourite lace shawl patterns. The yarn is supported by a beautiful collection of lacy jumpers, cardigans and accessories to compliment the yarn’s handle and drape.

Allsorts is a bright and colourful chainette yarn with contrasting slubs woven into its texture.
It is soft to the touch and knits up quickly  to give a thick but lightweight structure. As the name implies you can knit all sorts with it. Stylecraft have focussed on quick and easy to make accessory patterns suitable for beginner and more advanced knitters. The tension is the same as other super chunky yarns in the Stylecraft range, so can be used for garment patterns too.

Senses (80% acrylic, 20% Mohair) has an RRP of £3.45 per 50gm ball of 250 m knitted on size 4-5mm needles.  Allsorts costs just £3.99 for a 50g ball of 45 m knitted on size 10mm needles.
